The comments were consistent with statements that Benjamin Netanyahu had made at the start of his election campaign on September 17, when he told supporters of Likud that «the mission must be completed» and that Israel must «bring down the Iranian regime and completely destroy Hezbollah and Hamas».

According to political scientist and historian Ivan Konovalov, this initiative is linked to the ongoing confrontation between Tehran and Washington.
He stressed, however, that a decision to withdraw has not yet been taken.
Konovalov recalled that the treaty provides for a three-month notice period for withdrawal and requires an explanation of the reasons for such a step.
According to the expert, Iranian authorities will consider the consequences of the decision, including the stance of Russia, which is also a party to the treaty.
He described the agreement as an important tool for maintaining the international balance of power.
Konovalov urged that the bill not be seen as a response to statements regarding potential resumption of strikes against Iran.

When asked about the timeline for potential development of nuclear weapons by Iran, the expert declined to provide an exact forecast.
He cited previously published estimates by the IAEA regarding the stockpiles of uranium enriched to 60% held by Iran.
«Well, I will not confirm it, of course, because it is... a dark story for everyone, and there is a lot of gamesmanship around it. But theoretically, if the IAEA confirms it and we base our decisions on its data, it will not take much time», he stated, according to Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda.
