EU forces 4.2 million fine on Greece as officials pressure Mitsotakis to make taxpayers foot the bill
The shocking letter from DAKE EKO of the Ministry of Rural Development to save the skin of the auditors so that ELGO Dimitra does not pay - The lawsuits that are coming

An eye-opening letter from the EKO of New Democracy to the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, addressed to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis as well as the political leadership of the Ministry, is brought to light today by BN. With this letter, it is essentially requested that taxpayers pay the fine of ELGO Dimitra, putting forward as a spearhead that the entities (companies and cooperative organizations) should not pay, upon whom it was also imposed to pay the financial correction because the Europeans caught us red-handed, establishing that the auditing authorities also had the role of the audited party, and thus a conflict of interest arose.

Lawsuits are coming

Except that those sending the letter are the very ones who did not do their job regarding the audits, and thus we reached the point where the return of an amount of 4.2 million euros was imposed. And the entities were caught off guard as they had submitted all the documents, but nobody informed them about what was happening. In fact, most entities, based on a research we conducted, are not aware, while others who have been informed about it out of court are preparing for lawsuits. And we are talking about entities that carry out large exports abroad, not about opportunists.

The beginning of the lie

It is indeed impressive that the attempt to mislead the prime minister begins from the very start with the claim that in the EU they did not take into account a findings report of the Greek auditing authorities and were led into a financial delusion. A careful reading later comes to reveal that clarifications were given to the initial findings of the EU after an audit, which did not convince the Europeans, and so they returned with new questions. Then an audit was carried out again by those who sent the document, which according to them was meticulous and expanded (what was the first one, one wonders?) and they concluded again that there is no conflict of interest.

They buried the new audit

Except that they kept this audit at the Ministry of Rural Development to themselves. And it is unbelievable what they state word for word, and specifically that "The financial findings reply report in question was inadvertently not sent competently on time to the competent European Auditing team. It was unfortunately sent on 08-04-2025 with a delay of about six months (!!!!) following remarks by the European Services which mentioned that the Greek authorities had not replied to the newly requested items. The European auditing team with ARES (2025) 2443765-26/03/2025 sent the payment certification report not taking into account the report no. EMP 24/14-11-2024 findings report." And here they are regularly mocking both the prime minister and the political leadership of the Ministry of Rural Development, as a careful observer notes that they sent the document after the fine had been imposed, and specifically with a nineteen-day delay. The senders of the letter take it to the limit as they say they have information "that other services of the YPAAT (Directorate for the Promotion of Agricultural Products) as well as the competent payment department of OPEKEPE have also given opinions on the non-existence of a conflict of interest." Of course they do not convince us, especially regarding the opinions of the rogue scientists of OPEKEPE. Of course they do not say that the fine was also shared among cooperatives and entities beyond ELGO, which had no idea about their auditing antics.

Why they cannot bear it

At least, in the end they recognize that OPEKEPE is a scandal just like their own, which they mention that the Ministry cannot bear, but they obviously mean themselves. Because how can they bear, one wonders, the lawsuits that will be filed by the entities that suddenly found themselves with debts without having any responsibility? And of course they themselves cannot bear the money they may be called to pay through the judicial route to the entities. The attempt to save their crime is, however, becoming even more difficult because information states that disciplinary proceedings have already been initiated against them by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Rural Development, Mr. Protopsaltis. For the rest, we are talking about the same persons who did not perform audits, as they ought to, for years at the sinful Agriculture and Livestock Fund.

SEE HERE THE DOCUMENT THAT WAS SENT TO THE PRIME MINISTER (the names of the entities have been deleted for the simplest reason that they have no involvement in the crime but are called to pay).
