The maneuvering of the group of the Willing to send troops to Ukraine… should not be underestimated despite the clear warnings from Russia that they will become legitimate targets for extermination.
France and Britain have stated that they will send troops, but what will happen if other countries like Greece follow suit?
If Greece sends soldiers to Ukraine and they return as corpses… should they be honored as heroes or as traitors?
If in 2026, without peace in Ukraine, the group of the Willing sends troops to Ukraine against Russia in practice, and Greek soldiers are among them… and Greek soldiers are killed in a missile attack, should they be honored as heroes or as traitors?
This question arises because similar questions are being raised by politicians in other countries of the Willing.
However, there are questions:
1) Can Greece send an expeditionary force to Ukraine, even as a guard unit and not as a combat unit?
Answer:
So far, Greece has publicly denied that it will send troops with the Willing, but French media have indirectly reported that Greece has not said a categorical no… so an ND government could make the mistake once it is on the wrong side of history.
2) Would it be a criminal mistake for Greece to send troops to Ukraine?
Answer:
Clearly yes. Russia is an Orthodox Christian country and is on the right side of history.
The involvement of Greece in the Ukrainian conflict has been recorded as an unacceptable mistake, and such involvement would mean siding with the losers, i.e., the West and NATO.
Russia is 100% right… it is defending itself against NATO’s unacceptable plans to expand eastward for decades… what does NATO want in Estonia or Ukraine, and from whom does it want to defend itself?
3) Can Greece, in a pre-election year, send troops to Ukraine?
Answer:
2026 will be a pre-election year since elections will be held in April or May 2027.
Logically, no one would make such a risky decision, but if it happens, it will be presented as participation in a deterrent force; it will be portrayed that Greece, with its 200,000 soldiers, is a ready-for-war country, which obviously is not true.
4) If Greece sends soldiers to Ukraine and they return as corpses… should they be honored as heroes or as traitors?
Answer:
Greece is a Russophile state, with a history of over 300 years of relations.
Greece and Russia share historical, religious, social, and economic ties, so anything contrary to this history would be betrayal.
The dead soldiers cannot receive honors as heroes because they simply will not be heroes.
Greek soldiers should clearly refuse any participation in something that will bring only pain, failure, and mourning.
Nothing good will result…
Conclusion:
Greece still has an opportunity to take a clear stance in favor of Russia, not only because it is the winner in the Ukrainian conflict, but also because the majority of society—almost 75% of the Greek people—sides with the Russians… those who support the Ukrainians do so either out of ignorance, political obsession with ND, or foolishness.
