The entire political system is in absolute absurdity due to the OPEKEPE scandal.
In a few days, some say during the discussion in the Parliament on the 2026 budget, the second case file of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office will come to light.
The revelations will shake the Maximou system as we will see several first-tier names and gradations of committed offenses in relation to the organization.
Already in Maximou they are trying to see how they will manage a very difficult situation that will force them to make several people resign and to agree to the lifting of their immunity.
PASOK also immersed in the scandal
However, the PASOK is also being hit by the OPEKEPE story after the revelations by Lazaridis about the involvement in the case of Stavros Vavias, former parliamentary candidate in Evros and deputy secretary in the PASOK Department of Agricultural Development.
We remind that in the broader OPEKEPE scandal other PASOK officials have also been involved, such as Bounakis, Antonopoulos, Fotos, and now yet another official who, as we learned, had supported Nikos Androulakis in the internal party elections.
While it should be noted that the second case file will also involve a new PASOK official as well as one from SYRIZA.
Tsipras is cutting ties with his old circles
In the SYRIZA camp, it is obvious that Alexis Tsipras is cutting ties with the old circles that supported him during the 2015–2019 governance period.
The former prime minister no longer needs the help of Kostas Vaxevanis, since he is now supported by the system of the Efimerida ton Syntakton and not only.
However, it is indicative that the injunctions filed by the publishing house that released Tsipras’ books against Vaxevanis signal the end of an era. The same applies to officials who stood by Alexis Tsipras from the very first moment, such as Nikos Pappas, Pavlos Polakis, Rena Dourou, etc.
Al. Tsipras is determined to move more toward the center, address different audiences, and choose from scratch officials who will not create problems for him.
Samaras is gathering the dissatisfied
In the camp, on the other hand, of the ruling party, the issue of rallying is a huge question mark, as Antonis Samaras’ intention to create a party has whetted the appetite of MPs and officials of ND.
The problem for the leadership is twofold. On the one hand, there is a huge percentage of dissatisfied voters who are now outside ND, in abstention, and waiting for developments. Very few of them will return to ND. On the other hand, there are MPs waiting for the new party in order to position themselves. Especially if they know they will not be elected, their decision will not be that difficult.

The problem of cost of living, which has become a public discussion, the intra-party problem where everyone is waiting for the Samaras party, and the problem arising from the revelations regarding OPEKEPE, which will force K. Mitsotakis to intervene even against his own officials.
OPEKEPE also has another political dimension:
That it has rallied livestock farmers–farmers against the government regarding compensations–subsidies, and reactions are expected to be extreme, with new blockades like in 2016.
