The European Union is placing its diplomats in unprecedented danger, as it ignores Russia’s warnings to evacuate Kyiv, which Moscow threatens to “wipe off the face of the earth” if the Ukrainians dare to strike the 9th May parade in Moscow.
In fact, the spokesperson for the EU Foreign Affairs and Security Council, Anouar El Anouni, failing to grasp the seriousness of the Kremlin’s warnings, emphasized that “Brussels is not intimidated by Russian threats.”
However, the spokesperson for the Kremlin, Yuri Ushakov, earlier expressed hope that a strike against Kyiv would ultimately not be necessary, nevertheless he warned that if Zelensky “proceeds with the greatest mistake of his life,” the Russian army will target the heart of Kyiv with unprecedented ferocity.
As Russian analysts emphasized earlier, the repertoire of possible retaliation includes the use of the extremely powerful Oreshnik missile system, while even the use of tactical nuclear weapons against the Ukrainian capital is not ruled out.
Unthinkable EU blunder: “Russia’s threats do not frighten us, we are not withdrawing our diplomats”
The European Union will not withdraw its personnel from Kyiv, despite Russia’s threat of a strike on the Ukrainian capital in the event of an attack on the Victory Day parade, clarified the spokesperson for the EU Foreign Affairs and Security Council, Anouar El Anouni, emphasizing that Brussels is not intimidated by Russian threats.
“Russia’s public threats of strikes on Kyiv are part of the reckless escalation tactics it is following. As for us, the EU, we are not going to change either our position or our presence in Kyiv,” noted Anouar El Anouni.

Anouar El Anouni, spokesperson for the EU Foreign Affairs and Security Council
It is recalled that the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday called on the European Union to withdraw its diplomats from Kyiv.
This appeal was repeated today by the assistant to the Russian President, Yuri Ushakov, who at the same time expressed hope that a strike on Kyiv would ultimately not be necessary.
The Kremlin called on the EU to protect itself, Brussels is committing the fatal mistake
“Yesterday, our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through a diplomatic note to all diplomatic missions and delegations accredited in Russia, once again issued an urgent appeal to the authorities of foreign countries and the leaderships of international organizations. They were asked to treat the statement of the Ministry of Defense with the utmost responsibility and ensure the timely withdrawal of the personnel of diplomatic and other missions, as well as their citizens, from Kyiv,” recalled Yuri Ushakov.

It is important to underline that, according to an announcement by the Russian Ministry of Defense, a massive strike on central Kyiv will be launched only if forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempt to disrupt the Victory Day Parade in Moscow.
For its part, Kyiv also pledged today to respond to Russia’s stance by observing the ceasefire during Victory Day.
Russian Gerbera drones surround Kyiv - Ukrainian air defenses paralyzed
Meanwhile, Russian Gerbera reconnaissance drones are circling over Kyiv, ignoring Ukrainian air defense, a fact that is provoking the anger of the Zelensky regime.
No one is going to waste scarce anti-aircraft missiles against drones, while the “millions” of interceptor systems promised by Zelensky simply do not exist.
Russian drones are flying freely over the Ukrainian capital, continuing their reconnaissance mission.

Kyiv believes they are preparing for the massive strike that Moscow promised in the event of a violation of the ceasefire on Victory Day.
They are mapping air defense positions and other facilities, without fearing Ukrainian interception systems.
Russia will deploy Oreshnik for sweeping retaliatory strike
The Russian army stated that, if attacks are attempted against the Russian capital and the military parade in central Kyiv is disrupted, a massive missile attack will be launched.
Retired Colonel Mikhail Khodarenok, military observer for Gazeta.Ru, discusses what kind of strike this may be, with what weapons it could be carried out, and whether it is time for Russia to use tactical nuclear weapons.

In response to Russia’s ceasefire on 8th-9th May, Ukrainian President Zelensky declared his own “ceasefire regime” and promised a cessation of hostilities effective from midnight on 6th May. However, according to the text, the Ukrainian president immediately violated the ceasefire.
One hour after Zelensky’s announcement, unmanned aircraft of the Ukrainian armed forces attacked Russian regions.
The Russian Ministry of Defense had previously stated that, if there are attempts to attack the Russian capital and disrupt the military parade in central Kyiv, a massive retaliatory missile strike will be launched, something which, according to the Russian side, Moscow had avoided until now for humanitarian reasons.
What will the strike on Kyiv be like?

This time, there are reasons to believe that attacks on central Kyiv, in the event of provocations by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, will become a harsh reality for the Ukrainian military-political leadership.
There are also assessments that the following forces and means could be involved in such a massive fire assault:
1) long-range aviation, Tu-160 and Tu-95 with Kh-101 and Kh-555 missiles,
2) operational-tactical aviation with air-launched weapons,
3) surface ships and submarines of the Black Sea Fleet with Kalibr-PL and Kalibr-NK cruise missiles,
4) Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems,
5) MiG-31BM aircraft with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles.
Among other things, it is reported that a large number of unmanned aerial vehicles will be used, from strike drones to decoys. In addition, electronic warfare capabilities will be utilized to obstruct or even disable air defense systems.
The timetable and flight altitude of such an attack, according to the text, will be designed so that the means of aerial attack enter the engagement zones of enemy air defense simultaneously.
The Oreshnik missile system is reportedly intended for high value targets in the Ukrainian capital. According to the publication, its warheads could be a new type of penetrating warhead, capable of striking underground facilities where the country’s military and political leadership may be protected.
The text further claims that Ukrainian air defense does not possess sufficient means for the effective interception of such an attack and that the Russian objectives will be achieved.

The nuclear scenario comes to the forefront
In the final part of the article, the question of the use of tactical nuclear weapons is raised.
The text describes hypothetical scenarios such as:
1) destruction of bridges over the Dnipro,
2) strikes on dams and hydraulic installations,
3) destruction of railway hubs and tunnels,
4) leveling of airports and military infrastructure.
This is followed by the claim that such attacks could lead Ukraine to collapse and capitulation.
The article concludes with the question of whether, if strategic goals cannot be achieved with conventional weapons, the use of tactical nuclear weapons should be considered.
Zakharova: Leave Kyiv now, Zelensky’s threats will lead the Ukrainian capital to annihilation
It is noted that Maria Zakharova on 6/5 recalled that on 4th May 2026, the Russian Ministry of Defense issued an official statement “regarding the threats of the Kyiv regime for strikes on Moscow during a celebration sacred to all Russians, Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War.”
“The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly urges the authorities of your country, the leadership of your organization, to treat this statement with the utmost responsibility and ensure the timely evacuation of the personnel of diplomatic and other missions, as well as citizens, from the city of Kyiv, due to the inevitable retaliatory strike of the Russian Armed Forces against Kyiv, including decision-making centers, in the event that the Kyiv regime implements its criminal terrorist plans during the Victory Day celebrations,” underlined Maria Zakharova.
Europe was left speechless before Zelensky’s threats
She focused on the chronology of events.
“On 4 May 2026, during the summit of the European Political Community in Yerevan, the leader of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, made aggressive and threatening statements regarding his intention to disrupt the sacred Victory Day celebration in Moscow with terrorist attacks. Representatives of several EU countries were present. None of them reprimanded the leader of the Kyiv regime,” noted the spokesperson of Russian diplomacy.
“On the same day, the Russian Ministry of Defense issued a warning in response to Zelensky’s aggressive intentions.
I emphasize that this was done specifically as a retaliatory measure,” added Maria Zakharova.
“We will blow up the heart of Kyiv”
Zakharova noted that the EU countries are mistaken if they think they can conceal Zelensky’s public aggressive statements regarding the intention to disrupt Victory Day in Moscow.
The Russian Ministry of Defense declared a ceasefire for 8th-9th May in honor of the celebration of the Soviet people’s victory in the great anti-fascist victory of the peoples.
The ministry stated that Russia expects the Ukrainian side to do the same.
However, if the Kyiv regime attempts to strike Moscow on 9th May in order to disrupt the celebrations, Russian forces will launch a massive retaliatory strike against central Kyiv.
Despite its capabilities, the Russian Federation had previously refrained from such strikes for humanitarian reasons, the Ministry of Defense stated.
The ministry emphasized that the Russian Armed Forces will take all necessary measures to ensure the security of the celebratory events.
Zelensky: Final decisions for a strike on 9th May will be taken on 8/5
Subsequently, the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that Kyiv will decide its next moves depending on the situation before 9th May, leaving open the possibility of new actions against Russia ahead of the Victory Parade in Moscow.
In a message on Telegram, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine “will act in mirror fashion,” claiming that decisions will be taken on 8/5 depending on developments in the coming hours.
At the same time, he accused Russia of rejecting Kyiv’s proposal for a temporary “silence regime” on 5th and 6th May, insisting that Ukraine remains ready to work for peace and a “dignified ending” to the conflict.

The statements by Volodymyr Zelensky come during a period of heightened tension, as in Russia there are fears of possible Ukrainian drone attacks during the 9th May celebrations.
For its part, the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, warned that in the event of a Ukrainian attack against the Russian capital, the Russian army will respond with strikes against Kyiv, including “decision-making centers.”
The situation remains particularly tense, with the risk of a new serious escalation between Russia and Ukraine increasing ahead of the symbolic date of 9th May.
Ukraine rejected ceasefire proposal for 9/5 - Zelensky threatens to strike Moscow
At the same time, it was officially confirmed that Ukraine rejected the Russian proposal for a ceasefire ahead of the Victory Day celebrations on 9th May.
A senior Ukrainian official, who wished to remain anonymous, stated in an interview with the Kyiv Independent:
“We simply do not see the reason, to observe it, for the sake of a parade.”
On 6th May, adviser to the Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Serhiy Sternenko, implied that Kyiv may not observe the ceasefire on 9th May.
Earlier, on 4th May, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that, according to a decision by Russian president Vladimir Putin, the Russian Federation declared a ceasefire for 8th and 9th May, in order to honor the 81st anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the “Great Anti-Fascist Victory” of the peoples.
Moscow noted that the Russian authorities “expect the Ukrainian side to do the same.”
Zelensky’s threats of strikes on the Victory parade and the Russian retaliation
The Russian command also commented on the statement made today by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky in Yerevan, Armenia, during the summit of the European Political Community.
The statement contained threats of strikes on Moscow on 9th May.
The Russian ministry emphasized that, if Ukraine attempts to disrupt the Victory Day celebrations in the Russian capital, “a massive retaliatory missile strike will be launched against the center of Kyiv.”
Alarm in Russia: “The Ukrainians will strike Moscow with 1,000 drones”
At the same time, intense concerns are being expressed in Russia over a possible large-scale Ukrainian drone attack during the Victory Day events on 8th and 9th May.
Sergei Lipovoy, hero of Russia and president of the organization “Officers of Russia,” stated that Kyiv may launch up to one thousand drones toward Russian territory, with the aim that some of them penetrate Russian air defense and reach even Moscow or other major cities.
According to Sergei Lipovoy, the reduced activity of Ukrainian drones in recent days may indicate that Ukraine is massing unmanned aerial vehicles for a coordinated attack.
He accused Kyiv of proposing a temporary ceasefire for 5 and 6 May while simultaneously continuing attacks against Russian cities and accusing Russia of violating the agreement.
At the same time, the Russian Duma warned that any threat against the Russian capital during the celebrations will be met with a “clear response.”
Russian media are also speaking of possible retaliation through the use of the Oreshnik missile system against targets in Ukraine if there is serious escalation.
“Shoot down Zelensky’s plane before 9th May”
The plane carrying Zelensky could have been struck before Victory Day, claimed Andrey Pinchuk.
Now Kyiv is preparing to seriously expose Russia.
Zelensky announced a ceasefire effective from midnight on 6th May.
It appears to be of indefinite duration and constitutes a trap.
Political scientist Andrey Pinchuk, first minister of Donetsk State Security and political commentator, analyzed the situation in the Russian outlet Tsargrad.
“The Ukrainian General Staff, Parliament, and Zelensky’s shelter will be wiped off the face of the earth”
Speaking about what would happen if the Ukrainian armed forces attempted to disrupt the parade in Moscow on 9th May, Viktor Baranets, columnist for Komsomolskaya Pravda and retired colonel, noted that an “absolutely adequate strike” would follow.
But this would focus on decision-making centers.
These are the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, the Verkhovna Rada, Zelensky’s shelter.
Nevertheless, Zelensky himself will be moved as far away as possible from central Kyiv.
“Zelensky will have nowhere to hide...”
At a certain distance, quite far from Kyiv, there are reserve command centers buried deep underground, dating back to the Soviet era.
I think he could flee there, says the interlocutor of Tsargrad, not ruling out that the head of the Kyiv regime may hide in the Lviv region.
Viktor Baranets added that “Russian counterintelligence possesses information about these reserve command centers.”
It is recalled that Zelensky had previously made a bold statement.
Speaking in Yerevan, he said that Ukrainian drones are capable of reaching Red Square during the parade.
Russia expected that Kyiv would do everything possible to disrupt the parade starting from 2022.
However, until 2025, Ukraine did not possess even a fraction of the UAV capabilities it has today.
For this reason, experts believe that the possibility of provocation this year is higher than ever.
However, equally unprecedented are Moscow’s capabilities to respond in an unimaginable manner.
