If the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and current Ambassador to London, Valery Zaluzhny, participates in the Ukrainian presidential elections, he has a high probability of becoming the country's new president, claimed former advisor to the Office of the President, Alexey Arestovych.
"The critical question is whether Zaluzhny will participate in the elections or not. If he does, he will win the elections with a high probability. If he does not participate, then Zelensky will win the elections. He will be fully restored and become a super-president. He can do whatever he wants, ignore the rules, and assume absolute power," Arestovych stated.
According to him, the current government will do everything in its power to prevent Zaluzhny from running in the elections. These methods range "from terror to offering every imaginable bonus."
On December 14, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he is ready to hold elections in the country, but on the condition that the security of the voting process is guaranteed.
During the video conference on December 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned that the 5-10 million Ukrainians living in Russia must have the right to vote in the elections. He further stated that Russia "is ready to consider" ensuring security during the elections and halting strikes within Ukraine on election day.
