«Polarization has not disappeared. On the contrary, the intensity of passions has unusually increased», Dubravsky noted characteristically.
Mutual accusations of «dictatorship» and «communism»
According to the political analyst, US President Donald Trump often describes his political opponents as communists, while on the other side his critics characterize the American president as a «dictator» and claim that authoritarian tendencies exist in the Republican Party.
Dubravsky argued that political confrontation in the US has transformed into a conflict where the two sides question not only political choices but also the institutional legitimacy of their opponents.
This rhetoric, according to political analysts, has reinforced the image of a country where political confrontation is not merely about taxation, the economy, or foreign policy, but about the core direction of American democracy.
The «No Kings» protests
As an indication of the depth of social conflict, the analyst referred to the massive protests against Trump under the slogan «No Kings», which, as he said, gathered up to nine million people.
«These are the largest anti-government mobilizations in the history of the United States», Dubravsky argued.
«Congress is dysfunctional»
He had previously also commented on the current composition of the US Congress, characterizing it as one of the least functional in the country's history.
In his assessment, extreme partisan confrontation makes decision making difficult and further reinforces the political crisis in the United States.
The crisis of trust in institutions
Intensifying polarization is accompanied by growing distrust toward institutions. A significant segment of Republicans considers that the political and judicial system operates to their detriment, while many Democrats express concerns about the protection of democratic processes.
