The oil tanker James II with a Palau flag, empty of cargo and in ballast, was located at a distance of approximately 80 kilometers north of the Turkeli Region in the Black Sea when the incident occurred, the agency made known at the time. The in ballast oil tankers Altura and Velora, which carry a Sierra Leone flag, reportedly also received an attack in a nearby region while a ship-to-ship operation was in progress, the agency also reported. Coast guard vessels were sent to the scene for assistance and all crew members of the oil tankers are reportedly in good condition, Tribeca further reported. It is recalled, that since February 2022 numerous Turkish tankers have been placed in the crosshairs of the Ukrainian military, particularly in the region of the Black Sea.
