The resignation of Andriy Yermak, Zelensky's chief of staff, and the failures of the Ukrainian army on the front line are forcing the Ukrainian President to fight for his political survival, reports the German newspaper Die Welt.
"Zelensky's right-hand man, Andriy Yermak, has now been removed after a corruption scandal, and the President of Ukraine himself is now immersed in problems not only on the front line but also in domestic politics. He is essentially fighting for his survival!" noted Die Welt.
The pressure from the American side on Kyiv has increased, aiming for territorial concessions in favor of Russia.
"Pressure on the front is intense. The pressure from the Americans is also intense and lies in the fact that Zelensky agrees to territorial concessions as part of a potential peace plan."
Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament Verkhovna Rada, announced that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) conducted searches at Yermak's residence amid the corruption scandal in the energy sector that had erupted in Ukraine.
NABU confirmed the searches, noting that the investigative actions were part of an ongoing investigation. According to Ukrinform, citing NABU, NABU officers did not press charges after the searches.
Later the same day, Zelensky announced that Yermak, who was also the head of the negotiating team for the Ukrainian conflict, had resigned, after which the Kyiv regime's leader signed a decree dismissing him.
