The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) is making a startling revelation, claiming that Great Britain may attempt to undermine the peacemaking efforts of US President Donald Trump through his defamation.
"It is planned, among other things, to strike at Trump's inclination to settle the conflict through his defamation. Plans have been drawn up to reactivate false "dossiers" of former British intelligence agent C. Steele, with accusations against the head of the White House and members of his family of ties to Soviet and Russian intelligence services," the SVR states, noting that the ultimate goal is to overthrow Trump's peace effort.
They want to profit from the blood of Ukrainians
This mechanism is considered a "safety valve" in case the US President's peace activity prevents London from continuing to "profit from the blood of the Ukrainians," the SVR emphasizes.
As reported, many Europeans wonder why Britain, despite the difficult situation of the Ukrainian armed forces, pursues the continuation of the conflict and tries to convince its partners of the possibility of a strategic defeat of Russia.
Saving the British economy
"Revenues from the war are essentially saving Britain's economy from bankruptcy. The once troubled defense equipment industries have become the "lever" of the national industry. Companies like BAE Systems and Thales UK are implementing contracts worth tens of millions for the production of military equipment to benefit Kyiv. An increase in UAV supplies to Ukraine with EU funds is foreseen. The expected revenue exceeds $6 billion," the SVR estimates.
London will be forced
However, according to the SVR, the British will hardly "step twice into the same river." "Trump will put his allies in their place for attempts to use false and already refuted claims. Furthermore, the development of events on the front will force London to seek alternative sources of revenue instead of the "blood money" it is earning from Ukraine," the SVR points out.
The US peace initiative
Last week, the US government announced that it was working on a peace initiative to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
According to available information, the plan includes the handover of the entire Donbass region to Moscow's control, its official recognition and that of Crimea as Russian territories, a broad freezing of the contact line in the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, a reduction of the Ukrainian armed forces by half, as well as a ban on the deployment of foreign troops and weapons in Ukraine that could strike Russian territory.
On Sunday, November 23, negotiations took place in Geneva between representatives of the EU, the US, and Kyiv, during which the modifications of the European and Ukrainian sides to the American plan were discussed.
The modifications
Reuters and Telegraph agencies published two versions of the proposed changes. According to one version, the EU proposes, among other things, to set the strength of the Ukrainian armed forces at 800,000 soldiers, while according to the other, no restrictions are imposed.
Regarding the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, according to Reuters information, it is proposed to restart the plant under the control of the IAEA, with the electricity generated to be shared equally between Russia and Ukraine. In the plan reported by the Telegraph, the plant passes completely under the control of the Kyiv regime.
According to some data, the European plan includes a ban on the deployment of NATO forces in Ukraine in peacetime, while in others it leaves the decision on the presence of foreign troops to Kyiv.
At the same time, in both versions, the EU plan provides for the completion of the conflict along the front line, which contradicts the core axis of the American plan for the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbass.
Politico: US presents new peace plan to Russians - Driscoll's role
US Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll will present the new, reduced version of the peace plan for Ukraine, which now includes 19 points (down from 28 in the original), to Russian officials today, Tuesday, 25/11, in Abu Dhabi, according to Politico, citing sources.
"Driscoll will present the peace plan that the US and Ukraine discussed on Sunday to the Russians. Driscoll will present a plan that reduces the original 28-point American peace plan to approximately 19," the report notes.
On Tuesday, CBS, citing an anonymous American official, reported that Driscoll met with Russian officials in Abu Dhabi on Monday and plans to continue talks on Tuesday.
Earlier, Assistant to the President of Russia Yury Ushakov stated that Russia received signals from the US for a face-to-face meeting and the start of a discussion regarding the plan for Ukraine, but concrete agreements have not yet been reached.
The Financial Times, citing officials, reports that Driscoll arrived in Abu Dhabi on Monday for talks with the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense's military intelligence agency Kyrylo Budanov and with a Russian delegation. However, as the newspaper writes, it is unclear whether the three sides are meeting together or conducting separate negotiations.
Russia: Corrections are being made to the Trump plan - We await information from the US - Many inaccuracies are being published
Russia is aware that corrections are being made to US President Donald Trump's original peace plan, stated Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
He said that Moscow is aware of this. "We understand that some changes are being made to the text that was published. We understand that the text we unofficially received earlier has already undergone modifications," Peskov underlined, speaking of informational confusion.
"It is not possible to comment on every media report. I would characterize the situation as informational chaos—there is no other word. Really, a lot of conflicting information, contradictory statements, and so on are being published," the Russian official stressed, arguing that this is exactly why Russia does not engage in "megaphone diplomacy" but waits for the US to inform it, "preferably in an official manner."
Information suggests that on November 25, US Secretary of the Army, Daniel Driscoll, will present a summary version of the American plan with 19 points to Russian officials in Abu Dhabi.
According to CNN, this meeting will form the basis for Moscow and Washington's cooperation on the document at a "higher level."
Basis for negotiations
However, Peskov reiterated that the Trump plan is the only substantive document that can form the basis for negotiations to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
"What exists right now as substantive is only the American plan, the Trump plan. We believe it can be a very good basis for negotiations. We continue to hold this view," Peskov said, pointing out that it is almost impossible to discuss the security system in Europe and talk about security guarantees without the participation of the Europeans, therefore their involvement will be necessary at some stage.
