The provocation is revealed - Journalists arrested in Belgium for flying a drone - No Russian involvement

Belgian police arrested two journalists near Brussels Airport, causing a new wave of concern over the recent "mysterious" drone sightings.

New arrests by the Belgian police may indicate that the recent panic surrounding drones in the country is less connected to Russia than authorities initially insinuated.

On the afternoon of November 14, police arrested two individuals just outside the Brussels Airport area and confiscated a drone. One of the individuals was reportedly wearing a black beanie, a black hooded jacket, and had a small drone on him when airport police arrested him and his partner.
Neither of the two was Russian; instead, they were identified as Belgians. According to the initial report by the website Drone Watch on November 17, the two arrested individuals were journalists and had accredited cards.

The pair claimed they wanted to use the drone to take photographs of the airport fence, intending to accompany journalistic articles. Since then, the assessment has circulated that the two journalists were trying to prove that it is easy to launch a drone near an airport.

However, because there was no indication that they had flown the drone in the area, no official complaint was filed. Nevertheless, the drone was confiscated by the Federal Police's Aviation Unit (LPA).
Online rumors linked the two arrested individuals to the newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, Belgium's largest tabloid. The company DPG Media, which is behind the tabloid, strongly denied the claim. DPG Media even threatened lawsuits against the media outlets that published the news, claiming the journalists worked for Het Laatste Nieuws.
Police did not disclose which journalistic office or media outlet the arrested individuals belonged to.

In contrast to previous weeks, where alleged drone sightings and illegal incursions had been extensively linked to Russia, the news of the two journalists received far less coverage. Despite numerous reports of drones in Belgium and across Europe, no tangible evidence of hostile activity has been found.
