Developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and in our country are stormy, with the relations between Greece and the United States being continuously upgraded.
According to the report, an invitation to visit Mount Athos has already been extended to Donald Trump and Marco Rubio; by early 2026, they will come to our homeland to deepen the strategic cooperation between the two states.
In fact, there are many who whisper that the collaborators of the U.S. President are advising him to come to Greece without a second thought.
Donald Trump is positive, although he has not yet made his final decision.
Let us recall that Trump will not be the first leader of a global power to come to Mount Athos.
Putin very often visits the Athos Peninsula to pay homage, and many times even with the cameras turned off.
But let us take it from the beginning.

An invitation to the American President, Donald Trump, to visit Mount Athos was extended by Alkiviadis Stefanis, as he announced while speaking on Parapolitika 90.1 and the program “Apenanti Mikrofona” with journalists Sotiris Xenakis and Vasilis Skouris.
“I told the American Deputy Minister to convey the official invitation of Mount Athos to President Trump.
His eyes widened, but I think he was pleased and said, ‘Of course, I will do that,’” noted the Governor of Mount Athos.
“Taking into account the relationship that President Trump developed with Orthodoxy, either through the visit of our His All-Holiness the Patriarch, and you saw how our Patriarch conveyed the message regarding the Halki Seminary and how he then immediately transferred it to President Erdogan, and how he received the visit of Elpidophoros and the gift he gave him, I see that he understands the importance of Mount Athos.
I estimate that, within the framework, not of his faith, but of his perception of geopolitical reality, when he comes to Greece, he will also visit the Mountain, understanding its significance,” he continued.
Furthermore, Alkiviadis Stefanis, on the occasion of the visit of the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Michael Rigas, to Mount Athos, stated:
“This is a young man who has a vision for the United States, who deeply loves the American model, but at the same time I was very pleased to discover that he has a great love for Mount Athos, for Greece, and of course for religion. He is a very devout man; this is the third time he has come to the Mountain, the first of course in his current capacity.
He has a deep knowledge of the issues of the Mountain, and I realized that the knowledge he had was not simply that of a believer, but of a state official who sees the Mountain within the framework of religious diplomacy, and that made me particularly happy, because there are not many who understand the importance of religious diplomacy.”

The American Secretary of State in Athens soon for EEZ, energy, and strategic cooperation
The visit of the U.S. Secretary of State, Marko Rubio, to Athens is “locked in,” according to secure information, with the two delegations currently seeking the final date of his arrival in the Greek capital within the framework of the 6th Round of the U.S.-Greece Strategic Dialogue.
Rubio’s arrival was initially scheduled within 2025, a timeline that may ultimately be adhered to; however, due to complications from the “shutdown,” the time window of the first two months of 2026 is now also quite likely.
The matters of Rubio’s reception were discussed in detail a few days ago during the introductory meeting of Giorgos Gerapetritis with the U.S. Ambassador, while the same topic was also discussed in the one-on-one meeting between the Greek Foreign Minister and the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Michael Rigas, whom the head of Greek diplomacy welcomed at the neoclassical building on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue.
Already, however, the new U.S. Ambassador is personally working toward organizing a meeting between the Greek Prime Minister and the American President at the White House, which is expected to be set in motion after Rubio’s visit.
Developments are stormy,stay tuned...
