Uproar in Germany - Antifa runs rampant and burns property of AfD Members of Parliament
Members of the German far-left group Antifa reportedly claimed responsibility for setting fire to the car of right-wing politician Bernd Baumann in Hamburg.
Members of the German far-left group Antifa reportedly claimed responsibility for the arson attack on the car of right-wing politician Bernd Baumann in Hamburg, Germany.
An anonymous letter of confession was published yesterday (4/11) on the Indymedia website, which often serves as a platform for Antifa announcements.
The letter gives Baumann's exact address and calls on readers to take action against the "daily, murderous, racist practices of Nazis, ordinary people, and police officers" using "hammers or incendiary devices."

The authors also mention the murdered American conservative activist Charlie Kirk, writing: "All you damned MAGA freaks, you will follow Kirk to hell!"

At 3 a.m. yesterday, unknown perpetrators reportedly set fire to Baumann's car in front of his house in the Othmarschen area, a quiet district of Hamburg. Baumann is a prominent member of parliament with the right-wing party Alternative for Germany (AfD).
The BMW was completely destroyed. Three vehicles parked next to Baumann's car also caught fire and were destroyed. A fourth car and a fence suffered partial fire damage.

The Hamburg Police announced that they have launched an investigation into suspected arson and "potentially politically motivated property damage" and called on witnesses to testify.

Baumann stated today on Welt TV that he had been the target of similar attacks in the past:
"This is the fifth car burned in front of my house in about a year," he said. "My house is constantly under attack. My wife is very afraid."

He added that the perpetrators had also set fire to a tenant's car last year:
"The tenant immediately left out of fear. I haven't been able to rent the apartment to anyone since then," Baumann stated.

Furthermore, he complained that investigations into the attacks are usually closed as the police claim they cannot identify the perpetrators.

"There is no real pressure to investigate. We know where Antifa lives. They are state-funded. There is a municipal foundation that covers the rent and bills of the Rote Flora (an occupied space in the center of Hamburg)," he said.

"If the perpetrators were right-wing, I believe they would have been arrested much earlier. Now we see the blossoming of the seeds of demonization, which have been planted for a long time."
