Bulgaria is ready to provide an air corridor for the aircraft of Russian President Vladimir Putin on its way to Hungary, if necessary, announced Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev.
Although the location of the meeting between Putin and Trump has not yet been finalized, it is considered likely to take place in Budapest.
Donald Trump made the relevant preliminary announcements, and Viktor Orban supported it, immediately calling Vladimir Putin, guaranteeing security and the necessary conditions for the talks.
Moscow has expressed no objection.
However, difficulties could arise regarding the Russian President’s flight to Hungary.
While Europe… smiles and states it will not intervene, a last-minute provocation could potentially be staged.
At present, the most likely route is considered to be a rather long path through the Black Sea, Turkey, the Mediterranean, Montenegro, and Serbia, accompanied by Russian and Turkish fighter jets.
If Bulgaria agrees, the route would be significantly shorter: Black Sea – Bulgaria – Serbia – Hungary.
“When efforts are made to achieve peace, it is reasonable to provide all conditions to achieve the goal,” stated Georgiev, confirming his country’s readiness to provide an air corridor.
Whether Russia will accept Bulgaria’s offer, rely on Turkey, or follow another alternative route remains to be seen.
For now, no date has been set for the meeting.
