The meeting between the American president Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky was, in the end, a sad one, where the Ukrainian president left empty-handed... something that wasn't certain before the meeting.
However, the phone call from Russian president Vladimir Putin intervened!
And everything changed.
Mainly, the stance of the U.S. and its president towards Ukraine.
The meeting wasn’t necessary, but...
Despite the relentless noise from the Western media — which absorbed every little detail of the Zelensky-Trump meeting — the reality was that this official meeting wasn’t at all necessary for Zelensky.
The issue was purely technical... only signatures remained, and thousands of "Tomahawks" would be added to the Kyiv arsenal.
All the mistakes of the past had been taken into account;
Zelensky had been trained by the entire European Union and NATO;
the necessary meetings had been held;
the required "fillings" had been prepared;
the praises had been said;
the right people were in place;
the timing was ready after the... provocation with "Russian" drones in Poland and Denmark, followed by Trump's political victory in the history of Gaza, while he was still in shape...

But then, like a deus ex machina, the Russian president stepped in and changed history...
Russian president Putin picked up the phone and called Trump.
Why?
The issue wasn’t the Tomahawks themselves — which as weapons can't directly affect the war.
The issue was that with the delivery of missile ships to Ukraine, which could only be controlled by American military personnel, the Americans would automatically be drawn into military confrontation with Russia — and this was of vital importance for Kyiv and the Europeans.
That’s why, for Trump’s preliminary processing, everything and even more had been done, and only the final, formal approval remained.
Did the American president want this?
Could he withstand the consequences from the Russian side?
That's why Putin called Trump to clarify the facts and his country's position.
The rough landing of Ukraine and Zelensky
According to information from the Turkish Anadolu Agency, "the Ukrainian delegation was carefully preparing the meeting," for which a beautiful multi-slide presentation was made.
As the British edition of Time reported, "Zelensky had already been prepared to hear an enthusiastic public announcement about the expansion of military aid (including the provision of 'Tomahawks')," and especially for this celebratory moment in Washington, he had brought half of his cabinet with him: both the head of the president's office, Yermak, as well as Prime Minister Sviridenko, NSDC head Umerov, and a number of other officials.
But the American president was clear...
After the conversation with Putin, Trump stated that now the Tomahawks were needed by the Americans themselves.
Disappointment and anger overtook the Ukrainian president for the... dismissal and the humiliation that followed from the moment he set foot in the White House on October 17.
Western media described this moment with much color: "Putin's conversation with Trump was an unpleasant surprise for Zelensky";
"Zelensky's visit to Washington began with a tragic surprise";
"The phone conversation came for Zelensky at a very inappropriate time";
"After the Putin-Trump talks, the plans of the Ukrainian delegation turned to ashes."
And the most unpleasant part was that there was no time to fix anything.
The change in atmosphere was evident from... the plane's arrival.
No one greeted him;
the talks were delayed by 30 minutes because Trump was listening to an Italian singer!
The meeting didn’t take place in the Oval Office but in the Cabinet Room for third-class visitors;
there was no official joint statement, and no press conference — Trump kicked him out of the White House.
As France24 reported, "Zelensky faced the task of... reprogramming Trump."
According to eyewitnesses, Zelensky begged, negotiated, promised, and offered Trump gold mines... land and water, but the result was zero.

Europe in shock and the reversal of the Tomahawk
Trump refused to give Zelensky Tomahawks but promised that in future talks with Putin in Budapest, he would "stay in touch."
Instead of scolding him for his military attire, he praised his suit.
Immediately after, Zelensky rushed to call his "mentors," who, after an hour of shock, issued the phrase that "support for Ukraine remains unwavering."
Before Zelensky’s meeting with Trump, the Western media referred to the "Tomahawks" as "game-changers" and "a punch in the gut" that "could bring Russia to its knees."
However, after Trump’s call with Putin, something bad happened to the Tomahawks: according to The Washington Post, now the Tomahawks can only represent symbolic meaning and won’t affect the course of the conflict.
How Putin, during his conversation with Trump, managed to melt the entire bomb of four thousand missiles — it isn’t specified, but perhaps the strongest argument is whether the U.S. can withstand Russian retaliation.
If they want, they can get involved and risk seeing destruction on their own soil.
As for the dream of the Russia-phobic to bring Russia to its knees, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico described it perfectly yesterday:
"There was a strategy: through this war, there was an opportunity to bring Russia to its knees.
But anyone who knows the Russians knows that when they are on their knees, it’s only because they are tying their shoes."
This is something for everyone who still believe that the Russians are wearing slippers and kirzach boots.
