Speaking at the presentation of her new book, “When the World Sleeps: Stories, Words and Wounds of Palestine,” at the Trianon cinema in Athens, Francesca Albanese warned that certain circles in Greece have a “misconception” about their alliance with Israel.

“The Greek authorities should have intervened immediately and ensured the safety of the people who sent the SOS signal,” he said.
Another Greek activist, who planned to join the flotilla on May 3 and wishes to remain anonymous, told Anadolu that Greece may be actively involved.
“We are trying to understand what happened. We called the Ministry of Shipping, but we did not receive a clear answer.
One thing is clear: the distress signals sent by the vessels were within Greece’s SAR search and rescue zone and Greece knew it. Nevertheless, timely assistance was not provided to the vessels,” he stated.
