The Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, Amihay Shikli, warns that Turkey today constitutes the most serious threat to the State of Israel.
In an interview with the Israeli state television channel Kan News and on the This Morning program of Channel 2, Shikli accused President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan of aggressive foreign policy and of constructing military bases in northern Syria and in the Occupied Territories of Cyprus, which according to him are intended to function as “advanced outposts” against Israel.
“Turkey is designating the Syria of Al-Jolani as the first line to attack Israel,” stated Shikli, emphasizing that the Turks are arming the army of the Syrian leader, who already speaks of targets in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
“Evil will unfold from the North,Turkey and the Syria of Al-Jolani,” the Minister warned, adding that Israel must take action at the international level to limit Ankara’s influence.
Strengthening regional alliances
Shikli stressed the need to strengthen relations with neighboring countries, particularly Greece and Cyprus.
“We must do everything we can to isolate Turkey on the international stage.
The joint naval exercise we conducted recently is an example of this strategy,” he noted.
In addition, the Minister highlighted the importance of economic cooperation: “The axis of the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean, Greece, Cyprus, Israel, Italy, must be strengthened, and we must work hard for this.”
Notably, according to information, Israeli officials recently convened secretly in Athens and discussed with their Greek counterparts the creation of conditions for the liberation of Cyprus…
Shikli did not limit himself to regional issues.
Addressing Washington, he stated: “We must convince the USA that Turkey is not a real ally.
A dictator, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, with half the opposition imprisoned and who fiercely promotes antisemitic propaganda, cannot be a member of NATO.”

F-35 and Palestinian state
Shikli also referred to reports about the sale of F-35 aircraft to Saudi Arabia, stating: “We are not at all enthusiastic about countries in the region possessing F-35 outside of Israel.
However, if this includes a normalization process with Israel, it is worth considering.”
Regarding the issue of a Palestinian state, Shikli made clear: “Israel cannot accept or commit to the establishment of an additional Palestinian state beyond the one that already exists.”
The statements of Minister Amihay Shikli highlight Turkey as the “most serious danger” for Israel, while Ankara’s strategy in Syria, its aggressive foreign policy, and its increasing military power intensify regional tensions.
Jerusalem appears determined to strengthen regional alliances, increase economic cooperation, and apply international pressure in order to limit Turkish influence and protect its national security.
