Participants in the meeting also examined prospects for developing bilateral cooperation
Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei placed special emphasis on the situation in the Middle East during their talks yesterday, the Kremlin announced. "Issues on the international and regional agenda were discussed. Mohsen Rezaei delivered a message from Iran's Supreme Leader, Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei," stated the Kremlin, which confirmed that Rezaei handed Putin a message from Mojtaba Khamenei, directly addressing Middle East security dynamics.
Participants in the meeting also examined prospects for developing bilateral cooperation under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and Iran. The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and Iran was signed in Moscow in January 2025 by the presidents of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Masoud Pezeshkian, strengthening Russia-Iran strategic alliance.
The agreement lays the groundwork for expanding cooperation between Moscow and Tehran across all sectors, including defense, counter-terrorism, energy, finance, transportation, industry, science, and technology. The treaty has a duration of 20 years and provides for automatic renewal for successive five-year periods, driving bilateral energy and defense cooperation.
