Major General Ali Abdollahi, Chief of the General Staff of Iran's Armed Forces, stated that the country has emerged as a fourth pole of power through its control of the Strait of Hormuz. "Powerful Iran has emerged as a fourth pole of power through its control of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital passage for global energy, and through its capacity to determine the rules of access to it," Abdollahi emphasized. In a speech, Abdollahi maintained that United States hostility toward Iran constituted an unbroken continuum rather than a series of isolated incidents, directly impacting Persian Gulf security.
"Today, the multidimensional conflict between Iran and the United States transcends a simple military confrontation and alters the very architecture of global power dynamics. Powerful Iran, through its control of the Strait of Hormuz—which constitutes a vital energy passage—and through establishing rules of access to it, has emerged as a fourth pole of power. The unipolar world order has bowed before this new reality: Nations and regional powers can secure their security without depending on the American security umbrella. For us, military power constitutes not an end in itself, but a tool. Iran does not desire war. However, our military doctrine, based on actual conditions and the requirements of the era, has evolved from 'defense' to 'offensive initiative' and from 'crisis management' to 'order shaping,'" stated Abdollahi, defining Iranian military doctrine.
Iran's five principles for lasting security
As he stated, at this historical juncture, "Iran's plan for achieving lasting regional security is based on five principles:
-
Termination of the war on all fronts, particularly in Lebanon and Gaza. Conducting negotiations under threat constitutes coercion.
-
Complete lifting of sanctions and unfreezing of the Iranian people's frozen financial assets.
-
Payment of war reparations for the wars imposed on Iran. The Iranian people are not debtors, but beneficiaries of compensation.
-
Recognition of Iran's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and replacement of the outdated American security umbrella by the 'Hormuz Mechanism'.
-
Provision of guarantees regarding non-repetition of attacks and establishment of autonomous regional security mechanisms in Western Asia.
These five principles do not constitute a peace plan formulated from a position of weakness. They represent a doctrine of shaping a new order from a position of strength, within the framework of active resistance," shaping Hormuz Mechanism negotiations.
