Major tax fraud shock at Pizza Fan: Nine arrested over 25 million euro VAT hole
«Blow» by the Financial Police to the well-known pizzeria chain: Mammoth ring under the microscope with tampered cash registers and 25 million euros in «black» VAT

A wide-ranging police operation, with the participation of AADE and the Directorate of Forensic Sciences, is in full swing, centered on the well-known food service chain Pizza Fan.
DAOE is investigating the dismantling of a ring that allegedly set up a systematic tax evasion mechanism through tampered cash registers.
And while the case is ongoing, Mykonos seems to hide the next big shock... upcoming revelations will cause powerful tremors.
The question is no longer merely what has already been detected, but what else is about to come to light, and how high the case may reach.

The method and the 25 million «mammoth» sum

According to the evidence of the investigation so far, the criminal organization had set up a complex mechanism for concealing turnover, resulting in failing to remit to the Greek State an amount exceeding 25 million euros in value-added tax (VAT) from 2022 to date.
The network of this specific chain, which numbers approximately 100 food and beverage establishments throughout the country, used «tampered» cash registers to bypass the automatic transmission of transactions.

Nine arrests and extensive seizures

During the simultaneous searches conducted at residences and business premises, authorities have proceeded with the arrest of nine individuals who form the core of the organization.
The primary ownership entity of the chain, top managerial executives, head accountants, and store managers fell into police «nets».
During the investigations, sums of money exceeding 500,000 euros, luxury vehicles, high-value jewelry, as well as digital evidence and numerous incriminating documents have already been located and seized.
The investigations continue with unabated intensity to identify the full scope of the illegal activity.
