Kasidiaris launches fierce attack against Mitsotakis: Turkey roams unchecked, Libya exposes Athens, and the government surrenders national interests

Government policy on migration, Kasos, EEZ, and Greek-Turkish relations in the crosshairs - Volleys over Athens' handlings toward Ankara

In a particularly sharp intervention, Ilias Kasidiaris turns against the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, placing critical issues of national security, foreign policy, and the defense of Greek sovereign rights at the center. In a post on the X platform, Ilias Kasidiaris lays out a series of allegations regarding government handlings on migration, relations with Libya, Turkish moves in the region of Kasos, as well as Athens' stance toward Ankara's claims.

Focus on migration flows from Libya

Ilias Kasidiaris places special emphasis on migration, arguing that arrivals from Libya to Crete highlight severe weaknesses in government management. Concurrently, he criticizes the handlings of the Greek leadership toward Khalifa Haftar, contending that Athens is investing politically in an actor who ultimately serves the interests of Turkey.

Harsh criticism over Kasos and GSI cable

At the epicenter of his intervention lies the GSI electrical interconnection project, with Ilias Kasidiaris alleging that Turkish warships block research in the Kasos region, at a distance of six nautical miles. His criticism extends to Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis and National Security Advisor Thanos Dokos, taking aim at positions on Greek-Turkish relations and the Kastellorizo EEZ.

EEZ and territorial waters

Ilias Kasidiaris brings back to the fore the issue of expanding Greek territorial waters to 12 nautical miles and declaring a Greek Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). He accuses the government of failing to proceed with actions required for the fuller exercise of Greek rights based on the Law of the Sea.

Barbs over Armed Forces security

Ilias Kasidiaris also turns against the military leadership, raising an issue regarding the transport of Greek officers to a war zone by bus, as well as the disclosure of their movements on the X platform. According to him, these specific handlings generate severe questions regarding personnel security and the protection of sensitive operational information.
