The story had begun with Karteros's article posing the question «is Nikos Androulakis an idiot?»
PASOK and ELAS have fallen into the trap of opinion polls showing the battle for second place heating up, and the situation seems to have gotten out of hand. A new episode was added to the political confrontation between PASOK and EL.A.S., with Thanasis Karteros launching a counterattack following the video by PASOK MP Panagiotis Doudonis. The pretext, this time, was claims regarding the «disappearance» of the journalist from a party organ belonging to the camp of Alexis Tsipras, with Thanasis Karteros responding with sarcasm and taking the political clash one step further: all the way to the leadership at Harilaou Trikoupi.
The article with the... idiot
The story had begun with the article by Thanasis Karteros posing the question «is Nikos Androulakis an idiot?», sparking reactions and opening a new cycle of tension between the two sides. Subsequently, Panagiotis Doudonis appeared in a video commenting that Thanasis Karteros «disappeared» from the Political Secretariat of EL.A.S. following the uproar caused by his article, which, according to the MP, was written at the dictation of Alexis Tsipras.
Thanasis Karteros, however, directly challenges the claim, pointing out that this specific party organ does not exist. And this is where the political trolling begins. Instead of limiting himself to a formal denial, he wonders whether the PASOK MP knew the truth and ignored it, or if he was swept away by the opportunity to gain exposure through an attack on the former prime minister.
He even wants a promotion
Subsequently, Thanasis Karteros ironically adopts the narrative of his «disappearance», calling on Alexis Tsipras to reinstate him to the non-existent organ and, indeed, grant him a promotion as well. In this way, he attempts to deconstruct the allegations of Panagiotis Doudonis, turning the video into an object of political satire.
The barb, however, does not stop at the MP. Thanasis Karteros directly poses the question of whether Nikos Androulakis has approved the controversial video, thereby shifting the pressure from the MP to the leadership of PASOK. This represents a clear effort to render the dispute a matter of broader political responsibility and not merely a personal squabble.
The entire explosive post
In detail, the post by Mr. Thanasis Karteros:
«When Panagiotis Doudonis speaks...
And suddenly I hear with astonishment from a very confident, very credible, and very strict PASOK cadre, named Panagiotis Doudonis, that the disease of disappearance afflicting EL.A.S. is worsening. In a purposeful video indeed, with staging, lighting, and the appropriate posture of the protagonist. A medical posture, so to speak, since he speaks of a disease.
And astonishment turns into apoplexy when I hear my name below as having disappeared from the party's Political Secretariat. Of course, no such organ exists, but that does not soften the blow; they vanished me from somewhere since Panagiotis Doudonis asserts it with image and sound. There is no chance the man who diagnosed the typology of the EL.A.S.-ND partnership is mistaken, and now reveals the typology of my disappearance. First, I wrote at the dictation of Alexis Tsipras, and then Alexis Tsipras disappeared me in the face of public outcry. Signed: Panagiotis Doudonis.
Tall tales
Now I confess I am in a dilemma. Should I refute him categorically by publicly pointing out the sheer absurdity of the tale? Or should I accept my disappearance and get it over with? The second option is the safest and most fitting for modern political mores. The first carries the following danger: If I refute him, trouble is certain, since I will have to explain the typology of his act. Namely, whether he is acting in bad faith, a slanderer and a liar, who knows the truth but refuses to grant it the right to spoil a nice video. Or whether he is of diminished cognitive capacity (I do not say bad words again, as you can see) who saw the bait of personal exposure through a nice attack on Alexis Tsipras, but failed to see the trap of truth.
Challenging Tsipras
So that we do not have another disappearance (of course, such a thing can hardly happen, since I am already vanished, but with this Alexis Tsipras anything is to be expected), I answer YES. Panagiotis Doudonis IS RIGHT. I am, and declare myself, vanished by Alexis Tsipras. Whom I publicly call upon:
First, to revoke forthwith and immediately my disappearance and reinstate me at once to the organ from which he vanished me, even if he did not vanish me.
Second, not only to reinstate me, but also to give me a promotion to a higher organ, as a faithful inorganic organ of his pursuits.
And third, when Panagiotis Doudonis speaks, let no one utter a sound. He knows...
One question: Has Nikos Androulakis approved this video by Panagiotis Doudonis?
And a moralizing postscript: For those on the side against Nikos Androulakis, honor is priceless. For those, on the contrary, on the side against Alexis Tsipras, the debasement of their honor fetches a good price in the honorable world of the moral judges. That is the market, it has its typology.
Thanasis Karteros».
And this at a time when a series of cadres of ELAS had disapproved of the article by Thanasis Karteros, stating that what he writes constitutes his personal opinions.
The episode, in any case, falls within an already charged climate, as PASOK and EL.A.S. exchange barbs over their political aspirations and their relationship with Alexis Tsipras.
Will they take a stand?
For now, the feud continues with posts, videos, and biting replies. And the question that remains open concerns not only whether Panagiotis Doudonis will respond anew, but also whether the leadership of PASOK will choose to take a public stand on the confrontation that now directly affects its president on the one hand, and whether Alexis Tsipras will be forced to officially disavow his close associate and speechwriter. Because the events unfolding have triggered reactions within the interior of ELAS as well.
