Lavrov: Zelensky directly provokes Trump - We received no peace plan

Russia has received no official proposal regarding the "peace plan" of the United States and Europe for Ukraine, Lavrov stated.

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky directly provokes US President Donald Trump by stating that he will continue attacks against Russian oil refineries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared, according to a report by the newspaper Izvestia. The Russian minister pointed out that Zelensky's stance toward the diesel agreement demonstrates his unwillingness to engage in constructive dialogue. "This is a direct and overtly provocative action against President Trump, who actively supported this agreement," Lavrov stated. The head of Russian diplomacy noted that Zelensky has repeatedly and publicly declared that he has no interest in the diesel deal. "Instead of seeking negotiations with Russia, he asks his partners for missiles for Patriot air defense systems in order to continue strikes against the Russian energy sector, including oil refineries," Lavrov argued. The Russian minister also emphasized that such behavior has now become habitual for Zelensky, who, according to him, believes that "the whole world owes him."

We received no plan

Russia has received no official proposal regarding the peace plan of the United States and Europe for Ukraine, Lavrov said. As he noted, relevant reports in the Western press rely on "leaks and unofficial information." "There is no mention, at least in the leaks I have seen, of concrete ideas on how we could move toward a long-term and sustainable peace, rather than a ceasefire that, as we have no doubt, would be violated by Ukraine and its European patrons," the Russian Foreign Minister stated.

Peskov's position

For his part, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary for Russian President Vladimir Putin, said that the Kremlin was aware only of media reports regarding potential discussions between the United States and Europe concerning a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. On October 13, The Washington Post reported that the United States and Europe are developing a joint peace proposal that would offer Russia and Ukraine economic benefits and security guarantees as a baseline for resolving territorial disputes. Regarding Zelensky's statements, Peskov emphasized that Ukraine, by continuing attacks against Russian oil refineries, contradicts the peacemaking efforts of the United States. Peskov also recalled the statement by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, according to which there was no moratorium on Ukraine's part, as strikes against Russian oil refineries and other energy sector facilities continued in recent days.
