IRGC hails US withdrawal from Iraq as historic victory

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) characterized the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq as a «historic victory».
In a statement broadcast by Iranian news agency ISNA, the IRGC stated that the broader military presence of Washington in Western Asia has a destabilizing character and must also be brought to an end.
«The US must withdraw from the region and leave security management to the peoples themselves», they stated.
«The experience of two decades of occupation has demonstrated that the presence of the US not only failed to bring security, but was itself a source of insecurity, terrorism, and instability in Western Asia».
The IRGC also referred to the human and economic cost of the American military campaign and occupation in Iraq, pointing out that, even according to the calculations of Washington itself, the price was enormous.
«After twenty years of military intervention, with approximately five thousand dead, according to its own admission, of course, and not the real figures, and a cost of four trillion dollars, the US was expelled amid intense hatred and indignation of the Iraqi people», it added.
