Information reaching the Ministry of National Economy and Finance indicates they are weighing all margins, searching for fiscal space that will allow them to implement a larger diesel subsidy, as the average nationwide price of heating and transport oil has skyrocketed to 2.21 euros per liter, having now overtaken unleaded petrol, which is being sold cheaper (so to speak...!).
Reports until late yesterday evening spoke of a subsidy of at least 20 cents per liter, including contribution from refineries, while if even greater cash cushion is found, the amount could reach 25 to 30 cents, so that drivers see a "1" leading the price at the pump. The official announcements will be made today at 11:00 AM by the Prime Minister, after which the Ministry of National Economy and Finance will specify the details of the measures.
