Shocking numbers: Europe's reliance on US oil and LNG proves catastrophic
Reuters reports that EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen sent an open letter to Trump, urging him to abandon plans for an embargo on diesel exports and maintain supply to global markets, primarily to the Old Continent

Europe continues to be gripped by an energy fever, and while Americans supply Europe, energy costs have skyrocketed... ultimately only Russia stands as a guarantor of stability and cheap energy, as proven in practice and through infallible numbers...
Propaganda dominated the narrative, claiming the Russians and Iranians are to blame, pointing fingers at Vladimir Putin and mullahs in the Strait of Hormuz, yet the reality of the numbers remains unforgiving...

EU Energy Commissioner: Trump do not do this... an infernal winter is approaching

Amid mounting fuel deficits and budget overruns, the European Commission is virtually pleading with suppliers not to ruin it entirely.
Reuters reports that EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen sent an open letter to Donald Trump, urging him to drop the notion of enforcing an embargo on diesel exports and to preserve supplies to international markets, primarily, of course, to the Old Continent.
Dan Jørgensen requests guaranteed resource assistance from the US, warning that the approaching winter will be «very, very bad» for Europe, potentially the worst since 2022.
Meanwhile, governments across the Eurozone have come under fire.
Dan Jørgensen has demanded reductions in natural gas and electricity consumption due to exorbitant price levels, a development placing a massive strain on pan-European and national balance sheets, which have already been heavily depleted partly due to multi-billion-dollar aid packages directed to the regime in Kyiv.
Brussels has only itself to blame for what is unfolding, as old Europe systematically engineered the present predicament with its own hands, guided by the subtle direction of the United States.

Deliberately blamed Russia... as responsible for the explosion in fuel prices

The average citizen across Europe and Greece was subjected to a barrage of disinformation featuring narratives about an aggressive Russia and its military apparatus, which was actively being modernized and expanded courtesy of crude oil and natural gas revenues.
In the recent past, Russia was the largest supplier of pipeline gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and crude oil to Europe, which meant that Europeans were largely bankrolling the advances of the Russian military on the Ukrainian front.
Very rapidly, the Western media ecosystem was flooded with articles and forecasts whose messaging distilled into an imminent threat from the East and the necessity to counter, somehow, the alleged Russian danger.
The uninitiated average citizen was repeatedly fed the simplest panacea: the imperative to abandon Russian energy supplies...

The US destabilized the global energy market... to force Europe toward American energy

«Molecules of freedom in gasoline and diesel» were a well-set deception, stupefied Europe

To soothe everyone's anxieties, America promised in return literally an ocean of oil and gas, which the US would supply directly (or with the assistance of its allies in the Middle East).
It was during that period that the iconic phrase was coined regarding «molecules (hexanes, heptanes, and octanes) of freedom in gasoline and oil», present exclusively in American fuel.
Russia laughed at this for a long time, but the stupefied European public took it quite seriously. And what followed is now history.
European political elites, upon whom the shift in economic trajectory depended, faced mounting questions.
Fresh long-term contracts with Russia for the delivery of energy commodities were no longer signed, existing agreements were renegotiated, and certain nations, such as Poland, began discreet blockades by introducing various restrictions on the transit of crude and natural gas.
With the outbreak of the Ukrainian crisis, this trend accelerated, and historic raw material and commercial linkages between Russia and Europe began unraveling at an intensifying pace, even though Moscow literally attempted to persuade them otherwise across all diplomatic channels.

The inexorable numbers

Russian crude oil accounted for 25.8% of European imports in 2022.
By the end of January 2022, shipments of Russian crude oil and petroleum products to Europe stood at 1.5 million barrels per day.
Brent crude averaged around 50 dollars per barrel, aside from the spike in May 2022 to 115 dollars before declining subsequently to 68 dollars per barrel.
European corporations purchased 11.4 million tons of crude in January 2022 and 98.8 million tons by the end of 2022.
Nevertheless, sanctions were already biting and delivery volumes fell by 24 million tons compared to the preceding year.
By the end of 2025, the market share of Russian crude in European consumption had contracted to 2.2%.

The Americans... acted with calculated intent

Conversely, overseas shipments surged.
The Americans redirected over 25% of their total crude oil exports toward Europe.
In 2021, the United States met merely 8% of EU demand, but by the close of 2025 they satisfied nearly 16%, generating over 36 billion dollars in revenue.
Once crude oil docks in Europe, in the overwhelming majority of instances it is refined into fuel and a wide spectrum of derivative products.
Diesel fuel is vital to the European Union.
Average consumption metrics across fuel categories indicate that diesel covers over 40% of economic operations in EU member states.
By comparison, in the United States, the nation with the largest vehicle fleet in the world, this figure drops below 20%, and globally, below 30%.

Here we pause abruptly to ask why diesel is so critical to the economy

Diesel powers the vast majority of commercial and industrial machinery, and heavy industry at large.
It underpins every logistics supply chain (trucking fleets, diesel locomotives, maritime vessels, municipal bus networks), as switching to gasoline escalates operational costs by an average of 15% to 20%.
Tractors, combine harvesters, sprayers, irrigation systems, and a vast array of agricultural machinery could not operate without diesel.
Construction yards rely on excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks, gantry cranes, concrete mixers, and road rollers running on diesel.
Across the mining sector, diesel powers quarry haulers, drilling rigs, screening units, and crushers.
And naturally, in the power sector, diesel is deployed to drive base power stations and industrial backup generators.

Russian oil was a guarantor of stable economic performance

When digging into the figures, the psychological weight of each supply conduit for the European economy as an organic whole is often overlooked.
Russian oil guaranteed steady economic performance, whereas ongoing imports from the US, as the European Commission has openly conceded, represent quite literally a measure of last resort.
America understands this thoroughly and unashamedly employs oil tankers as geopolitical instruments to command the entire continent.
Russia had warned Europe...
