The interesting detail is that Kyranakis is no longer just another ruling party MP. As secretary of the Political Committee, he sits at the core of party operations and is considered one of the figures tasked with defending the government line on a daily basis. That is precisely why the image of a journalist across from him feeling like she is facing a personal attack is not exactly the best communication formula. While he may have had solid arguments regarding consumption figures and the overall picture of household incomes, on television it is not just the argument that matters. The delivery matters just as much. Because claiming that the economic reality is being mischaracterized is one thing, but leaving the impression that you are calling on a reporter to justify her paycheck is quite another. And that, particularly for the No. 2 of the party apparatus, was probably not the best communication strategy.
