Critical profile on George Soros details financial speculation and Open Society Foundations
Just like yesterday, on August 12, 1930, György Schwartz was born, later known as George Soros. Officially he is often presented as a benefactor and philanthropist. Others believe he is a common financial criminal.

George Soros was born on August 12, 1930 in Budapest, Hungary, as György Schwartz, into a Jewish family.
In 1947 he escaped from the communist regime of Hungary and went to the United Kingdom to study at the London School of Economics.
He graduated in 1952 and later moved to New York, where he worked as a financial analyst.
It did not take long before he began building his own financial empire.
In 1973 he founded The Quantum Group of Funds, a hedge fund that later became particularly known for various controversial speculative activities, mainly speculating in foreign exchange markets.
The initial capital of this specific fund originated, among others, from the Rothschild financial family.
In 1979 George Soros founded the Open Society Foundations, through which, according to the text, he uses the money acquired from his speculative activities to politically influence entire societies.
George Soros himself states that he is philosophically influenced by the Jewish philosopher Karl Popper and prefers to self-characterize as a philanthropist.

Open Society Foundations

On the official website of the foundation you can read much regarding the values for which it fights, as well as the social mission of the institution.
Its ideological foundation is what is today called liberalism (not to be confused with what liberalism meant when the movement started).
The foundation claims to defend freedom, public health, economic freedom, justice, and so on.
In practice, according to the text, it supports forces that, for example, wish to legalize drugs and prostitution, arguing that drug prohibition reinforces the spread of HIV and that prostitution prohibition leads to poor working conditions for sex workers.
It also promotes issues such as anti-racism, free access to abortion, feminism, support for the LGBTQ+ community, and so on.
George Soros has received criticism for his political action.
Certain people believe that behind all the liberal, empty in their view, declarations hides a cynical, secret agenda, which prompts him and his associates in the financial power elite to expand their influence even further.

Speculation against Sweden

Soros became known in Sweden in 1992, following large-scale speculation against the Swedish krona.
In simple terms, he bet large sums on the decline of the krona's value, using so-called derivatives.
This caused a chain reaction, as many large companies converted their Swedish currencies into other currencies because everyone feared the impending large devaluation.
The desperate situation led the Riksbank, on the night of September 16, to raise the marginal interest rate (the base rate) to 500%.
This record interest rate applied only until September 21.
It was a measure of desperation to protect the krona from further speculation.
When currency speculation continued until mid-November, the Riksbank finally abandoned the effort to defend the krona and on the afternoon of November 19 the krona was «left to float freely».
From a fixed exchange rate, the krona now fell by 25% against the German mark and by 40% against the dollar.
Because of these percentages, the external debt of Swedish banks increased within a short period, while they suffered credit losses of 50–80% on commercial real estate.
Those who had invested in the decline of the Swedish krona's value were able to reap massive profits.
As usual, at the expense of taxpayers.
George Soros himself believes that, through such speculative moves, he offers a service to countries by pointing out the weaknesses of their monetary systems.
The consequences of this financial crisis in Sweden, which according to the text was caused by government choices, constituted a huge cost for taxpayers: a permanently high unemployment rate and more than 2,000 financial enterprises went bankrupt.

Speculation against the United Kingdom

The same year that Soros speculated against the Swedish krona, he did the same against the British pound.
The «state bank», which according to the text was controlled by the Rothschild family, was forced to devalue the pound.
George Soros reaped a profit of over 7 billion kronor from this transaction, which, not entirely unexpectedly, according to the text, British taxpayers were called upon to pay.
Another interesting detail is that, according to the text, Soros would never speculate against a Rothschild bank without having previously received permission.

Soros visits Sweden

In 1998, a little less than six years after the currency speculation against the country, Soros was invited to Sweden.
Besides a dinner with the royal family, a meeting with Peter Wallenberg, and a lecture at the School of Economics, he also gave a lecture at SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute).
The lecture concerned the need for a more globalized economy in a globalized world, and Pär Öberg from the Nordic Resistance Movement managed to attend that specific event.
In fact, he was given the opportunity to ask a question to George Soros:

Pär Öberg: Here you protest against global capitalists, but you are also one of them.
For example, you are a member of the Bilderberg Club.

George Soros: I belong to a group that can study predatory capitalists up close and then reveal how the system works.

Pär Öberg: They would never let you in if you were not one of them. Why are your meetings secret?
Even though heads of major media companies attend, they do not write about them.
You constitute a secret world government...

To the last question Pär Öberg received no answer and the microphone was taken away from him.
In his lectures regarding the economy, Öberg usually refers to the above incident and also describes Soros's activities.
It is worth noting that, according to the text, Pär Öberg was the only one in the audience who posed critical questions to the man whom he considers responsible for the destruction of the Swedish economy and the draining of Swedish taxpayers.
The rest of the attendees were praising him.

As a symbol of the global elite

Soros is considered one of the most financially influential figures in the world.
His unchecked and cynical speculative moves across the whole world have, according to the text, caused great misery.
The speculative moves in the late 1990s against Thailand and Malaysia almost completely destroyed the economies of those countries.
In certain regions, in fact, they even led to famine.
What he does, according to the text, should clearly be considered criminal, but in the financial world people like him define the rules.
This renders his massive financial acts legal.
The fact that he subsequently has the audacity to publicly claim that he represents freedom and human rights makes it even worse.
Worst of all is that he uses the money acquired, according to the text, in a criminal manner to influence politics in a direction that serves him financially.
Soros was an important financial donor to Obama's presidential campaign in the United States. Many believe that people like Soros actually possess far greater power than the official president.
The most recent financial crisis (2008) that struck the world, particularly the US and the EU, and which at the time of writing the text had not yet ended, was caused precisely by unchecked derivatives trading.
Soros's Quantum Fund reaped massive amounts from this crisis.
In an interview with The Australian newspaper, George Soros commented on the global crisis as follows:
«The global financial crisis was exciting and, in a sense, the climax of my life's work.»
