The United States will not be able to replenish its stockpile of Javelin anti-tank missiles transferred to Ukraine until at least 2030, according to Pentagon budget documents.
During fiscal years 2022-2025, the US Army purchased 9,374 missiles to replenish its inventory.
However, a significant portion of these shipments will not be delivered to the military until several years after the contracts are awarded.
The latest delivery, a batch of 944 missiles funded in 2024, will not begin before August 2030.
The transfer of Javelin command and launch units will also take several years.
The final batch, purchased with funds to replenish weapons sent to Kyiv, is expected to be delivered to the military by the end of 2028.
This batch includes 50 units.
The Pentagon explains these timelines by stating that the volume of additional orders for fiscal years 2022-2024 exceeded plant production capacity.
The full procurement and production cycle for a single Javelin missile takes up to 4.5 years.
