Uproar in the US: 2016 UFO contact revealed
One of the most important declassified files concerns an incident alleged to have been recorded in 2016 by a US government official.

A new series of declassified documents regarding unidentified aerial phenomena was released to the public in the USA, as part of the administration policy of Donald Trump for greater transparency on intelligence matters.
The new collection includes a total of 41 multimedia files, including documents, photographs, and videos.
At the center are reports of aerial incidents that had been recorded by US government agencies, such as the FBI, the CIA, and the Pentagon.
Of particular interest are reports related to incidents from 2016, as in certain cases there are, according to the documents, recordings from thermal cameras and other military surveillance systems.
The timing of the release has also prompted comments, as previous series of similar documents had been made public during periods of intense diplomatic activity around Iran. So far, however, there is no evidence proving that the timing is connected to any specific political or diplomatic choice.

The unknown incident of 2016

One of the most important files concerns an incident alleged to have been recorded in 2016 by a US government official.
According to the report, two unknown objects appeared in the field of infrared sensors and exhibited a strong thermal signature.
In the relevant material, the objects are described as «Hot Black», a term related to the way warm targets are displayed on certain infrared observation systems.
The two objects were said to be moving at a relatively low speed, but exhibiting unusual maneuverability.
The report records no obvious conventional propulsion system, nor are features distinguished that would point clearly to an ordinary aircraft.
The temperature difference between the objects and the environment constituted one of the reasons the incident was officially recorded.
The existence of an official report, however, does not mean that the objects had an extraterrestrial origin.
The US authorities themselves emphasize that the recording of an unknown phenomenon is not proof of its real nature or origin.

Files dating back to the Cold War

The new release is not limited to incidents of recent years.
In the National Archives of the USA, there are records dating back to the 1950s and including reports of spherical objects, metallic discs, and unusual movements in the air.
These specific reports had been recorded in different time periods and in different geographic regions, many of which held strategic or military significance.
Among the incidents returning to focus is a recording from military activity in 2021 over the Sea of Oman.
According to relevant descriptions, military systems recorded spherical objects with a particularly low thermal signature, which were said to be moving at very high speeds.
Some reports also mention movements characterized as reactive toward the presence of fighter jets of the US Navy.
The recording of such incidents in operational areas of the Middle East has aroused interest in the Pentagon, mainly due to the possibility that some of them are connected to advanced surveillance or espionage technologies from rival countries.

«Unidentified» does not mean «extraterrestrial»

Despite the intense interest generated by the new revelations, the American intelligence community continues to distinguish clearly between unidentified aerial phenomena and the hypothesis of extraterrestrial technology.
Competent agencies have repeatedly pointed out that a large portion of the incidents can be explained by more conventional causes.
These include unmanned aircraft, weather balloons, errors or limitations of sensors and radars, as well as classified military programs unknown to the operators who initially record an incident.
There are, nonetheless, cases that remain without a definitive explanation due to a lack of sufficient data.
