Eight people, including two children, were killed and another 14 were injured, according to Russian authorities, in an overnight Ukrainian drone attack in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The governor of the region, Yevgeny Balitsky, maintained that the targets were tourist facilities in Kirillovka where vacationers were staying, characterizing it as a deliberate strike against civilians.
Russian emergency services are continuing operations among the rubble, while Moscow announced it has initiated a criminal investigation into an act of terrorism.
The Russian Foreign Ministry labeled the attack "terrorist," with officials attributing personal accountability to Ukraine's new military leadership and declaring they will present evidence to international organizations.
The Ukrainian side has not commented on the Russian allegations so far.
