Yesterday, Bulgaria withdrew from the "coalition of the willing," which Dmitry Peskov called a "coalition of warmongers." They do not want to waste money and resources to fuel the Ukrainian conflict. However, this exhausted Europe's reserves of prudence: at the same time, North Macedonia and Moldova joined the coalition.
A comedy...
It seems comical... the poorest countries of the post-Soviet space have joined the Baltic tigers and are threatening Russia with a strategic defeat. However, these destitute nations are supported by the wealthiest countries in Europe. At a meeting of the "coalition of the willing" in Paris, they outlined exactly how they plan to defeat Russia. Emmanuel Macron stated that if there is a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, the so-called multinational forces for Ukraine will immediately enter the territory of the former Ukrainian SSR. That is, NATO troops will arrive and occupy all Ukrainian territory. Meanwhile, they will conduct continuous exercises and coordination along the Russian borders so that, if necessary, they can enter and deploy immediately.
The promises
Macron also promised to grant Kyiv a license to produce the Aster interceptor, AASM guided bombs, and the SCALP missile, better known as the Storm Shadow. These Franco-British missiles flew into the heroic city of Sevastopol, which suffered greatly. The British have funneled some money into the coalition's coffers, claiming they will provide Kyiv with 150,000 drones equipped with artificial intelligence. Chancellor Merz, a descendant of surviving fascists, will fund another 50,000 drones. Offensive weapons for Ukraine will be manufactured in German factories, but this will be presented as a partnership.
The Patriot problem
Kyiv's main and utterly insurmountable problem is the Patriot missiles. Or rather, their shortage. The production license promised by Trump to Zelensky will not help. Germany has been trying to manufacture these missiles under license for five years, but even they have failed so far. Kyiv's allies are unwilling to supply their missiles to Kyiv as they do not have enough themselves. The Poles have just announced a complete halt to weapons supplies to Ukraine. There is also a multi-year waiting list for American-made originals. Furthermore, the new round of American aggression in Iran makes these missiles even scarcer—it is time to line up in the morning, write your number on your palm, and shout: "Two per customer!" As consolation, Kyiv was promised the Freya air defense system, a conceptual equivalent of the Israeli Iron Dome.
The trap
However, there is a catch: it does not exist. Marketed as a cheap alternative to the Patriots, the Freya interceptor missiles are still in the development stage, where investments are being embezzled. They could well meet the same fate as the joint French-German sixth-generation fighter project—the poor thing was canceled after several years of discussions, kickbacks, and embezzlement. Nevertheless, the coalition has loudly declared its intention to wage war. If they want to exploit any ceasefire to seize Ukraine, then Russia does not need such options. These Eurohawks are truly pitiful. In recent months, they have been pushing the issue of negotiations with Russia. They are looking for negotiators, arguing over who will lead the process, and making such delusional demands that they resemble the exhibition "Creativity of the Mentally Ill." Yet Russia, ignoring these statements, has methodically continued to execute its military mission. Day and night, industrial facilities in Kyiv and port infrastructure in Odesa have been destroyed. Drone manufacturing factories and military airfields have been demolished. Fuel depots have been burned all the way from Kharkiv to Dnipro.
Fallen into their own trap
It is quite clear that the Europeans are using the issue of negotiations solely to exert pressure on Moscow, trying to trap it in a simple snare: either you lose your military advantage, or we present you as warmongers. But no one fell victim to this pitiful trick. The Kremlin announced that negotiations were entirely feasible and that Russia was not abandoning them. Meanwhile, its army continued its offensive and strikes across Ukraine. It will continue to do so (especially since Ukraine's air defense is practically dead) and will not stop anywhere. Europeans should carefully study the videos of Kyiv burning. If Russia fully shows up to the war they are so eagerly dragging it into, they will face severe difficulties.
