Kremlin rings alarm bells as Turkey reportedly resells Russian S-400 missiles to Gulf state
The Kremlin spokesperson was asked if Turkey requested permission for the sale of the S-400 to a Gulf country.

The Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, spoke of an "extremely sensitive issue", referring to the information regarding the sale of the Russian S-400 held by Turkey to a Gulf country.

" Russia is in contact with Turkey regarding the anti-aircraft missile systems S-400 that had been delivered to this country," Peskov stated.

Earlier, the pro-government Turkish newspaper Hürriyet had reported that the S-400, which Turkey had purchased in the past from Russia, were sold to one of the countries of the Persian Gulf. According to its information, the deal will be announced soon. Peskov was asked if Ankara requested permission for the sale and how Moscow reacted.

"Here I can say one thing: this issue belongs to the field of the extremely sensitive. We have had contacts with the Turkish side on this matter. And we will continue the contacts," the Kremlin spokesperson replied.

Turkey purchased in 2017 from Russia 4 batteries of S-400 anti-aircraft systems, valued at 2.5 billion dollars. In October 2019, the company Rosoboronexport (part of the state conglomerate Rostec) announced that the contract for the delivery of the systems had been completed. After the conclusion of the contract between Turkey and Russia for the procurement of the regiment of the S-400, Ankara was excluded from the USA program for the creation of the F-35 fighters.
