Iran's message: Massive progress in drones and air defense – We dismantled Israel's Iron Dome
Propaganda regarding… weakening, we are making leaps in the development of our defense systems, says Mohammad Yousefi Khoshqalb, deputy commander of the Iranian army's air defense

Iran has achieved steady progress in unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) and air defense technology, despite claims by some foreign media outlets, a top Iranian Army officer said, highlighting the continuous evolution of the country's defense sector. The deputy commander of the Army Air Defense Force, Brigadier General Mohammad Yousefi Khoshqalb, made these statements in an interview with Defapress, categorically rejecting foreign media reports claiming that Iranian air defense systems have been weakened. "The tactical conduct of various activities across the country, the complete security of land and maritime borders, as well as the absence of hostile aerial assets from Iranian airspace, demonstrate the dynamism, operational intelligence, and full readiness of the integrated air defense network, which operates as a strong and effective system," he stated.

Blow to Iron Dome

He added that the Iranian Armed Forces managed to penetrate the Israeli "Iron Dome" anti-missile system and strike predefined targets, arguing that this is proof that the country possesses "very powerful and advanced drones with unique capabilities." "The development and operational utilization of advanced drones on the battlefield has now become a normal and established practice for the Armed Forces and, fortunately, this process continues with speed and power," he noted.

Propaganda

Khoshqalb described recent rumors regarding the weakening of air defense as "a product of hostile propaganda," emphasizing that there are no significant problems in this sector. Referring to the continuous modernization of air defense systems, he noted that the utilization of "modern, efficient, and effective" equipment in managing operations and air combat is a "daily and ongoing process" for the Air Defense Force. He admitted that some equipment sustained damage during the 12-day war which, according to the Iranian side, the US and Israel launched in June 2024, as well as during the 40 days of "unprovoked aggression" against the Islamic Republic, which he claimed began on February 28. However, he emphasized that domestic scientific, industrial, and technological capabilities allowed for the maintenance of the defense sector's growth trajectory. "By utilizing the scientific, industrial, and technological capabilities of the Air Defense Force, the Ministry of Defense, and the Armed Forces, today we are witnessing continuous leaps and developments in defense systems," stressed Khoshqalb.

We have more advanced weapons

These statements follow repeated remarks by Iranian military officials, who argue that the country is constantly strengthening its self-sufficiency in the production of defense equipment. The spokesperson for the Iranian Army, Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia, stated on Sunday that Iran managed to manufacture even more advanced and sophisticated military equipment during the recent 40-day war, which Tehran characterizes as a US-Israeli attack against the country.
