Albania is developing into an explosive geopolitical and economic bomb for the entire region of the Balkans under the absolute and authoritarian rule of Edi Rama, who it should be noted studied with money of the Greek people.
Against the backdrop of violent clashes, allegations of an unprecedented orgy of laundering black money from drugs, and the systematic usurpation of the properties of the Greek national minority, Tirana is sliding into a dark regime like that of Erdogan, directly threatening stability and Greek interests.
The so called Flamingo Revolution, which has brought tens of thousands of angry citizens onto the streets for weeks, brings to the surface a terrifying background of corruption, where the thugs of private security companies beat demonstrators and injure Greek citizens, at the same time that billions of euros from international drug trafficking rings are channeled into pharaonic tourism projects.
Edi Rama, having secured absolute control of the country, faithfully applies the political model of the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Albania is rapidly transforming into a Trojan horse of Ankara in the Balkans, a hub for the promotion of Turkish interests with a clear geostrategic goal: the hindrance and weakening of the critical alliance between Greece, Cyprus and Israel.
Just as the arrogance of Erdogan triggered the uprisings in Gezi Park in 2013, so the neo Ottoman authoritarianism of Rama is now causing mass social explosions.
On May 30, 2026, the Zvërnec area near Vlorë was transformed into a battlefield.
Citizens and environmental organizations clashed fiercely with private security armies guarding the construction site of a giant tourism project in the Narta Lagoon, an environmentally protected zone that is being sacrificed on the altar of profit and dark interests.
Unprecedented provocation
The strategy of the Rama regime is not just an environmental disaster, it is an open persecution against the Greek element.
During the recent violent incidents, the thugs of the project attacked and seriously injured a Greek citizen, who denounced that the Albanian authorities arbitrarily fenced off his property, for which he possesses legal ownership titles, without any information whatsoever.
The response of Rama to the intense diplomatic reactions of Athens was a monument of provocativeness and cynicism.
The Albanian Prime Minister, not only downplayed the incidents, but went to the point of provocatively stating that he "ignored the existence of a Greek population" in the area that is asking back its properties from the era of the communist regime, while concurrently accusing Greece for instigating the protests.
This is exactly the same methodized tactic that we saw in the blatant case of Fredi Beleri in Himare.
The imprisonment of the elected mayor on fabricated charges was nothing but the smokescreen for the state expropriation and seizure of the ancestral properties of the Greek minority.
Both in Himare and in Zvërnec, the common denominator is one: the violent economic and ethnic extermination of the Greeks of Albania.
Black money, drugs and the scarecrow of the Trump son in law
Zvërnec, one of the most pristine marine parks of the Adriatic, was transformed overnight and through tailor made amendments to the legislation into a "strategic investment" zone.
At the center is a pharaonic project worth 4 billion dollars, which is linked to the company of the son in law of Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, and of Ivanka Trump.
However, analysts estimate that Kushner is being used by Rama as a political "scarecrow" to intimidate the local society, sending the message that whoever opposes his plans, messes directly with Washington.
Behind the luxury of the planned resorts, however, lies absolute decay.
The Albanian prosecutorial authorities have issued arrest warrants for at least 20 mega businessmen involved in international drug trafficking and money laundering rings.
Billions of euros from the trade of white death are channeled into construction along the Albanian coasts.
Among the wanted is also Artur Shehu (holder of American and Albanian citizenship living in Miami), who in 2025 sold tracts of land next to the flamingo sanctuary to the company Albania Land Development, which is directly linked to the project of Kushner.
The prosecutors have already frozen mammoth payments of 128 million euros.
"Yes, there is money laundering in our economy"
In the meantime, the reaction of Edi Rama to the revelations surpasses any imagination.
In his interview with the Financial Times, from inside an office that "shakes" daily from the voices of tens of thousands of demonstrators, the Albanian Prime Minister used vulgar language, responding to the accusations that he is the "Godfather" of organized crime with a provocative "go fuck yourselves".
In fact, he himself cynically confessed the extent of the criminal activity in his country, stating:
"Money laundering is part of our economy, but it is not such a big problem.
Do you believe there is no money laundering in London?"
Rama, moving with the arrogance of absolute impunity, relies on his powerful connections with Alex Soros (head of the Open Society Foundations), Jared Kushner and of course Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The European Commission signals that respect for the rights of the Greek minority and the protection of the environment constitute inviolable conditions for the accession path of Albania, yet Tirana shows to write Europe on the oldest of its shoes.
As was very aptly heard in the US Congress, the guilty silence of the international community toward authoritarian leaders sends the message to aspiring dictators like Rama that they can implement their dark ambitions without any cost whatsoever.
The situation in Albania smells of gunpowder and Greece must be ready for a serious escalation on its northern borders.
