At a highly important moment for the rapidly evolving developments in the Persian Gulf after the unprovoked attack of the Israeli gang and the United States, the Russian leader Putin spoke with the President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, the press service of the Kremlin reported.
The communication took place amid reports in the American press that the Russians and the Chinese are helping Iran defend itself successfully.
Indeed Trump, the American President, visibly annoyed when asked whether Russia helps Iran, answered “what a stupid question”.
However the only one who can negotiate with Iran and the Gulf monarchies is the Russian President Putin, who enjoys great respect unlike the Americans who were always treated with suspicion despite the military bases.
Immediate ceasefire
The principled position of Russia regarding the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the abandonment of violent methods of resolving problems around Iran and throughout the Middle East region has been reaffirmed, the Kremlin emphasized.
Putin also informed Masoud Pezeshkian that he is in regular contact with the leaders of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The Iranian President in turn thanked Russia for its solidarity with the people of the Islamic Republic and shared details regarding the ongoing conflict.
The parties agreed to continue contacts through various channels.
Iran requests support from Russia
Iran expects Russia to use its international potential to support the legitimate rights of the Islamic Republic against attacks from the United States and Israel, Masoud Pezeshkian stated in a telephone conversation with Putin.
Iran expects Russia to use its capabilities on the international stage to support the legitimate rights of the Iranian people in the face of the current attacks, emphasized the press service of the President of Iran.
Russia and China help Iran in many ways
The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi spoke about assistance from Russia and China amid American and Israeli attacks.
Russia and China help Iran “politically and in other ways”, said Abbas Aragchi.
Iran has not attacked Azerbaijan
The Iranian president Masoud Pezheskian told the Russian leader that his country had not attacked Azerbaijan.
He emphasized that Tehran never intended to attack its neighbors.
The President of Iran categorically rejected the claims of an Iranian attack on Azerbaijan, calling the rumors a conspiracy of enemies aimed at undermining the brotherly relations between the neighbors.
On 5 March, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan announced an attack by two Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) on Azerbaijani territory.
Raids were reported on the airport and on a school in Nakhchivan.
Azerbaijan took the first measures on the border with Iran after the drone attacks.
According to a statement from the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country, the border was temporarily closed for trucks.
Azerbaijan later accused the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of planning a terrorist attack in the country.
It was noted that the state security service had prevented terrorist provocations and intelligence gathering.
The alleged targets included the strategic oil pipeline Baku Tbilisi Ceyhan, the Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan, a leader of the Mountain Jewish community and an Ashkenazi synagogue.
