Trump wants to end the G7, prepares the C5 that pushes Europe aside
The first issue on the C5 agenda could be resolving the situation in the Middle East, particularly the normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
The administration of Donald Trump is reportedly studying and discussing the possibility of creating a new five-nation bloc as an alternative to the G7.
According to Politico, the new bloc, to be named C5 (Core 5), would include the United States, Russia, China, India and Japan.
Based on the report, this “seemingly unusual idea” of forming a new union is being discussed in Washington.
As Defense One notes, this point was included in an unpublished version of the National Security Strategy, to which it managed to gain access.
According to this information, the Trump administration is examining the idea of creating a new union that would not be bound by the requirements and conditions of the G7.
The first issue on the C5 agenda could be resolving the situation in the Middle East, particularly the normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
Deputy White House Press Secretary Anna Kelly declined to confirm the existence of this document to Politico, although national security experts noted that the creation of the C5 would serve the interests of the current US administration.
“This reflects how President Trump sees the world, not through an ideological lens, but through affinity for strong leaders and a predisposition toward cooperation with major powers that support spheres of influence in their regions,” Torry Taussig, who served on the National Security Council during the presidency of the 46th US President Joe Biden, told Politico.
According to her, the fact that Europe has no place in the C5 plan “may lead Europeans to believe that the US administration views Russia as a leading power, capable of having its own sphere of influence in Europe.”
