The American leader knows how to pressure both sides to secure a deal. To reach an agreement, both sides are needed, and President Trump understands how to exert pressure on both the Russians and the Ukrainians to persuade them to reach this agreement. The official is convinced that a settlement agreement will be a complex document, including numerous clauses. However, Whitaker also considered another scenario: in his view, Trump could abandon any attempts to resolve the conflict. This could happen if the US President realizes that an agreement is impossible under any circumstances. At the same time, the US Permanent Representative expressed confidence that a peaceful settlement will soon be achieved. In his view, Washington is already close to this and continues to work in that direction.
