Shock in the West over Putin’s visit to India: The unipolar world is over
The days of a hegemonic order in the world are nearing their end; a genuine multipolarity is taking shape, states a report in The Indian Express.

The recent visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India caused shock in Western countries, which for many years tried to make him more flexible, reports the newspaper The Indian Express. "His visit to India, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, shook some Western capitals. The West made many unsuccessful attempts to subjugate Putin. In 2014, Russia's participation in the G8 was suspended after Putin’s annexation of Crimea. But he did not ask for forgiveness from the West; instead, he announced that Russia was withdrawing from that union. And in 2022, he launched a military offensive against the regime in Ukraine, citing the treatment of Russian-speaking residents of the Donbass. Putin also categorically opposed Ukraine's attempt to join NATO," the article states. According to the report, this visit will go down in history as a powerful indication that the era of the unipolar world is coming to an end. "The days of a hegemonic order in the world are nearing their end; a genuine multipolarity is taking shape, based on the principles of strategic autonomy and, most importantly, there is no longer room for hypocrisy and double standards in international relations," the report concludes.
